Company History
Joe McCurdy has 
been in the trucking business for over 40 years. He started his first business “McCurdy Trucking” in 1974 when he bought his first dump truck. Joe’s interest in sand and gravel inspired him to acquire the operation of a gravel pit in 1986. The name changed to “McCurdy Materials” which encompassed the additional aspects of the company. Joe has been instrumental in the mining of three gravel operations. On December 15, 1997, we became Brookfield Sand & Gravel. Brookfield started in the road salt business in 1986, and is the primary distributor of Cargill bulk deicing salt in Indianapolis and the surrounding communities. We have been located on the Southeast side of Indianapolis for over 4 decades and have a long-term following of both commercial and residential customers. Our
diverse company now provides trucking, sand & gravel, road salt, topsoil & compost, crushed concrete and asphalt paving.
